2019 SEASON NEWSLETTER AND A JOYOUS HAPPY HOLIDAY GREETING
We would like to take this time to thank everyone and express our gratitude for another unbelievable 2019 season. Everyone at AML wishes you all a warmest, Happy Christmas Holiday and a prosperous (and lots of big fish!) upcoming 2020 to you all.
A very special Thank You!! Goes out to all of our AML guests who continue to show their passion and dedication towards making AML their choice of destination. Your loyalty, support, and referrals to friends and acquaintances are much appreciated. It is always great to see the many repeat guests and friends that make AML what it is along with the new guests that become part of the AML family each year. To us all at AML, YOU are considered part of the family and we will strive to make each year better than the last and do our best to provide experiences and memories that are never forgotten.
No or very small price increases depending on the packages. and services and great specials for spring/early summer bookings, along with high exchange rates and low fuel prices make 2020 the perfect year to plan an early-season trip! Opener of the season (3rd Sat. of May) thru 1st week of June is exceptional shallow water fishing for all species and less hectic than mid-season vacation time, consider giving it a try, those that have in recent years keep coming back) Regardless of when is best for you please remember there are only 22 weeks in the season, consider booking early to reserve limited amenities such as your favorite accommodations, boats, adventure trips, and especially your guides of choice to make your trip the best we can arrange and schedule it for you.
EXCITING NEW IMPROVEMENT
For those bringing your own boats undoubtedly one of the biggest new improvements in recent years besides the brand-new lodge and cabins, new boats and motors, is the addition of a BRAND-NEW ON-SITE BOAT LAUNCH completed in October and all ready for the upcoming 2020 season. No longer will we/you have to go to town to use the public launch to put your boat in or take it out as well as the peace of mind knowing you are able to quickly put your boat on the trailer in the event of an extremely severe wind or weather forecast or repairs/service if needed. Another big upgrade was to the entire dock & Piers with new lighting and electrical all completed to ensure safety when docking in the evenings and also knowing that your boat is being charged properly while having peace of mind knowing your trolling motor batteries will be ready for you Full Of Charge to go chase them giants that await you.
For those booking some guided trips, this upcoming season the fleet of 21’ guide boats will all have brand new 200-300 hp motors. These big, roomy, fast, and fully outfitted boats allow the AML guides to fish where and to the best of their ability regardless of conditions while guests experience outstanding comfort and safety. With 21′ Tuffy, Kingfisher, Ranger and Crestliner Boats completing our fleet the AML Pro-Staff Guide Team will be running the best and most fishable boats in the industry today. The guest camp boats are now all new and updated 18′ Lunds and Crestliners with new 50 hp electric start, power trim motors, and full-rigged with bow-mounted trolling motors, locators, livewells, and comfortable pedestal seats. To ensure protection for our fleet of boats but more importantly for our guests who choose to bring their personal boats new sections of the dock were added/replaced and more updates to the cabins to provide a comfortable stay for our guests. Yearly improvements are our commitment to all our guests to show we appreciate your business and our commitment to upholding the reputation of AML as Canada’s #1 Premier Fishing/Hunting Destination.
New for 2020!! In conjunction with our fishing instructors, guides, and colleagues, Guest Fishing Instruction Coordinator Steve Herbeck will be doing video clips of THE AML EAGLE LAKE TIPS AND FISHING REPORT OF THE WEEK throughout the season for fishing the waters of Eagle Lake and nearby NW Ontario waters. We did several last seasons as a test and the response was overwhelming. These will be only hours old when posted on our Facebook page, and the AML YouTube page. The dynamic, new, interactive website www.andymyerslodge.com you will also find pictures from 2013 – 2019 catches, 2020 pricing packages, and all the info to help plan your trip. Check it out and get involved with the new updated message/fishing info/blog board.
One of the aspects that have always set AML apart is the guest fishing instruction seminars and instructors that freely share all the latest up to date patterns, presentations, and hotspots with all our guests at any time of the day/night whether guided or not.
Whether you come to Eagle lake to chase huge numbers of eaters and slot sized Walleyes ( guides typically avg. 60-125 per day 16″-30″ ) as well as trophy Walleye ( 2019 33″12.5#), large avg. size spunky Smallmouth Bass ( 2019 23″ 7#), line screaming Lake Trout ( 2019 43″ 35#), ferocious Northern Pike ( 2019 46″ 25#), the ultimate trophy Muskie ( 2019 55.5″ 50#+), or a bit of everything you will be on one of the most dynamic and diverse fisheries in NW Ontario. Eagle Lake is and has been literally exploding in numbers especially, walleye, smallmouth bass, and muskie. It has reached a point where after the latest study it is rated by the MNR to be in the top 10 of all fisheries in NW Ont. and worthy of its World Class designation. All one has to do is go through the past few seasons postings on AML’s Facebook, website, videos, YouTube, and pics. With today’s social media venues and our willingness to share any and all references, you are able to easily correspond or research with past guests to see it is an undeniable fact you will be in the right place.
Whenever the topic of Canadian Muskie becomes a discussion two things are always making the conversation; Andy Myers Lodge & Eagle Lake, Ontario. Before the Fall Muskie Hunt even began the first week of October 46-50” + or better were boated by our guests for one of the highest trophy catch ratios in the province. Eagle has always been known as a trophy fishery but the pop. the explosion in recent yrs. has made 2-6+ fish days a common occurrence. Our Fall Muskie Hunt which was extended last year to 4 weeks instead of 3 because of high demand saw 79 anglers target this trophy species and the numbers boated were 153 with 1 reaching the 55” + mark and 6 going 53+. The largest was caught by special guest and good friend Frank Spano which was a whopping 55.5”. (personal best), He will receive the Free Rick Lax Repo Award presented by AML each year for the biggest Fall Muskie Hunt fish boated over 54″, congrats Frank!!, Nick Oliver 54″ (personal best), Eric Olsen 54″ (personal best), Bill Heddon 54.5″. Now for the Exciting News …
AML FALL MUSKIE HUNT WILL AGAIN RUN 4 EXCITING WEEKS IN 2020!
There is the capacity for 24 guests in newer fully winterized cabins and the Lodge so we can go as late as we want regardless of the weather! With the policy of limiting the numbers of guests per week for the Ultimate Guided Plan experience and potential for boating a Jumbo during the Trophy Muskie Hunt, the demand has reached more than can be accommodated without sacrifice of service and accommodating with specialized musky guides so we are going to continue to extend The Hunt thru the entire month of Oct. We don’t like to quit like most everyone else does when we can have the lake to ourselves during prime fall trophy time. For the hard-core angler, this is YOUR TIME to catch your personal best and literally, it is happening to someone in camp practically every day/week. Be sure to call soon or email if interested in this exciting late fall fishing opportunity with limited availability but unlimited service and potential for big-time success.

Please check the dates for the sport shows in your area and come by and say hello, talk fishing/hunting, share some laughs, and let us help plan your next adventure. NOTE: due to unforeseen scheduling conflicts we will not be able to participate in the Kansas City or Minneapolis Northwest Sport shows this season but we will every effort to reach out to past guests from these areas and help you make your plans for this upcoming season. (we will be at the Minnesota Musky Expo on March 27-29 at the Gangelhoff Center Concordia University which is only a block of 1-94 and very easy to get to. You don’t have to be a hardcore musky fisherman to attend. This an exciting venue with lots to see and if coming to see us and discuss a trip give us a call and we’ll have a free pass to come see us). If we don’t see you please get a hold of us and we will assist you in every way possible.
