Across the state, turkey hunters just like you are gathering gear, staking out blinds and practicing gobbles.
Spring is here and turkey season is just around the corner. The season kicks off this weekend, April 16-17, with the statewide youth hunt. It’s followed by weekly seasons starting April 20 through the end of May.
Except for some late season dates, most available hunting authorizations have already been assigned. Hunters are reminded to purchase their spring turkey license and stamp before heading to their blinds.
And if you’re lucky enough to bag a bird this spring, check out this wild turkey schnitzel recipe from the spring issue of our Wisconsin Natural Resources magazine.
In addition to this delicious recipe, you’ll find lots more information about protecting your property during spring wildfire season, tips for fly fishing the Driftless Area and keeping wildlife wild while afield this spring. And that’s just the beginning.
