Kick It Up This Year with One of Aubrey D.™’s Spicy-Hot Specialty Mustards
QUEBEC, Canada. (Sept. 27, 2021) — Mustard. Can you imagine grilling hot dogs and hamburgers without mustard on the side? Would you consider serving sandwiches without a mustard option? And how bland would potato salad be without mustard?
To kick it up a notch, why not substitute ordinary American or Dijon mustard with one of Aubrey D.’s spicy-hot mustard options — Jalapeno Mustard, Jalapeno Honey Mustard, and Jalapeno Horseradish Mustard — that are sure to have all your friends asking for more.
Aubrey D. Jalapeno Mustard is a superb blend with just enough jalapeño to really spice things up! Create marinades, use it to season meat, fish, and fowl, or wherever your imagination takes you. It’s guaranteed to add a delicious bit of heat to everything you eat, taking the ordinary and making it extraordinary.
Aubrey D. Jalapeno Honey Mustard is a unique and fabulous blend of jalapeño peppers and just the right amount of honey to give a little sweetness along with a little heat, giving it both magnificent flavor and a fabulous taste. It’s great to marinate chicken, turkey, or anything else with wings.
As far back as the 16th century, cooks have been preparing mustard with horseradish to be consumed with roast beef, and the recipe has changed little in the last 500 years — until now! Aubrey D.’s Jalapeno Horseradish Mustard is so good it can be used on so much more than just roast beef. It’s also fantastic on ham or pork, sublime on a steak sandwich, and turns ordinary salmon or crab cakes into a mouthwatering delight. And talk about taking a veggie sandwich to the next level!
Mustard has been a popular condiment for centuries. It’s believed that mustard was first cultivated in India around 3000 BC. It was later taken to Britain by the Romans, who used it as a condiment and pickling spice. Ancient Egyptians tossed mustard seeds onto their food, and sent King Tut to the great beyond with a good supply in his tomb. Pope John Paul XXII loved mustard so much that in the early 1300’s he created a new Vatican position of mustard-maker to the pope – grand moutardier du pape. The modern word mustard comes from the Middle English mustarde, meaning condiment, which in turn comes from the Old French mostarde. The term “Dijon mustard” most likely came from Dijon France which was, during the 13th century, the center for mustard production. Manufactured mustard most likely began in Paris around 1292. The first time hotdog sandwiches were dressed with mustard was in 1904 at the St. Louis World Fair.
In recent years there has been impressive growth in the mustard market. According to Modor Intelligence, mustard use worldwide is forecast to grow 5.7 percent annually during the period 2021-2025. And in the U.S., while peppercorns are the most used spice, mustard comes in second. Mustard has less fat and artificial sugars than other widely used condiments which helps in its popularity. For mustard lovers looking to change the same old, same old into an extraordinary burst of bring-the-heat flavor, why not give the Aubrey D. mustard collection a try?
