On the south end… A beautiful week of fishing with noticeably cooler nights in the 50’s and daytime temps in the 70’s. Another strong week of walleye fishing with limits of fish and again, some big walleyes caught. This late summer pattern is still prevalent. Trolling crankbaits and drifting with spinners and crawlers in the main basin producing well. Main depths are 30-34′. Some starter colors, red crawdad, chrome/blue, gold albernus, firetiger, and pink UV firetiger. Have camera ready and get fish back quick!

On the Rainy River... As most anglers are fishing the lake, river anglers seeing little traffic. Sturgeon anglers finding fish in deep holes. Reports of some nice walleyes, pike and smallmouth bass being caught up and down the river. Walleye anglers finding fish trolling crankbaits covering water.

Up at the NW Angle… Walleye fishing still strong up at the Angle. Fish being targeted in 17 – 25′ of water over mud adjacent to structure and in funnel areas between islands. Spinners with crawlers or minnows is still the go to presentation with gold and orange hot colors. Some big pike being caught deep by walleye anglers. Perch bite picking up. Muskie anglers showing good numbers of big fish. Water temp, 71 degrees. A complete list of lodging and fishing packages available at www.LakeoftheWoodsMN.com/Lodging
