Amistad champ “J-Will” gets a $3K Bonus

Bassmaster Elite Series pro Jason Williamson, often called “J-Will” by his buddies, stuck with a portion of Lake Amistad he believed in.  In the end, that faith-filled flat with standing trees became the scene of his $100,000 career stabilizing win.

The 28 year-old’s decision to tow his boat with a Toyota Tundra added an extra $3,000 of prosperity to the victory via his registration in the Toyota Bonus Bucks program.  Not to mention, the $1,000 he was awarded at Dardanelle for leading the Toyota Tundra Bassmaster Angler of the Year race.

Jason’s understanding of automobiles equals his knowledge of bass.  His family owns and operates well-known Williamson’s Auto Center in Aiken, South Carolina.  So J-Will has logged thousands of hours under the hood of various trucks and cars along side his father Ronnie.

“We repair cars and trucks for a living, and we repair fewer Toyotas than any other brand on the road,” said Jason.  “That said, I was convinced the Tundra would be reliable, but after hearing my buddy Terry Scroggins brag on the Tundra’s towing power, I had my mind made up that I wanted a Tundra,” he added.

Jason describes his dad Ronnie as a crappie slaying and perch jerking madman, and also his biggest supporter.  “When I was 18, I won my first BFLÒ tournament on Clarks Hill Reservoir and that was the turning point for me.  It gave me confidence and made a believer out of Dad.  He’s supported me both emotionally and financially, and he travels to most of the Elite Series events.  Having him there with me when I won at Amistad was incredible.  I thought I was going to have to give him mouth-to-mouth, he was so excited, he was about to pass out.”

And as for the added prosperity from Toyota, the recent champ concluded, “Bonus Bucks is a really generous program, Dad and I can buy a lot of boat gas and hotel rooms with an extra $3,000.”
