Anglers Invited to Audition for Bass Pro Shops

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – For anglers who believe they have what it takes to be the next big-time bass fishing pro, Bass Pro Shops is providing that chance on its new show, The Next Great Angler. Anglers are invited to prove they can fish against the most famous names in bass fishing by registering online by Feb. 5 to qualify for an in-store audition at participating Bass Pro Shops stores.*

This new fishing show offers contestants the opportunity to vie for the title of The Next Great Angler and will feature the action of the top 12 in a reality style fishing show competition. In addition to bragging rights, the winner also will receive paid entry to the 2016 Bassmaster Opens and thus a shot at qualifying for the 2016 Bassmaster Classic. Other prizes include one year’s usage of a new Nitro boat, a Toyota Tundra, and new top-of-the-line fishing gear.

Contestants must register online by Feb. 5 to audition in-store for The Next Great Angler. The auditions will provide participants 60 seconds to explain why they should be chosen to compete in Bass Pro Shops The Next Great Angler. In-store auditions, held at participating Bass Pro Shops Stores, will occur Feb. 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Online registration for an in-store audition at Bass Pro Shops Rocky View, Calgary, and Anchorage, Alaska, stores will occur March 11-20. In-store auditions at those two stores will be held March 24 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

In-store auditions for The Next Great Angler coincide with the fishing event of the year, Bass Pro Shops 2015 Spring Fishing Classic. This free event features fishing seminars taught by the experts, activities for women and youth, giveaways, and a variety of new special offers. The 2015 Spring Fishing Classic will be held Feb. 6-15 in 66 Bass Pro Shops stores across the U.S. and Canada except for Anchorage, Alaska, and Rocky View, Calgary, where the event will be hosted March 20-29.

This show will feature great fishing tips, insights, and product reviews delivered by the legends of the fishing world. It will air for seven consecutive nights on the Outdoor Channel, Feb. 9-13, 2015, at 11:30 p.m. Eastern time.
