Reigning Bassmaster Angler of the Year, Brent Chapman, feels he still has a shot to move up after his Day 1 limit weighing 24 pounds 9 ounces landing him in the number 17 spot. On Falcon Lake, it is sure a possibility.
After receiving a smattering of applause similar to the traditional golf club clapping, Chapman said this, “Hopefully I can step it up tomorrow. Last time I was here I weighed in a 30 pound bag and got the same amount of applause. Tomorrow I need to step up and catch a 30 pound bag.”
Brandon Palaniuk surprised by his behemoth bass.
“The fish jumped one time,” said Palaniuk. “I said a few choice words. It really didn’t fight much after that one jump. It came up to the boat nice and easy and I grabbed her. I had no idea it weighed 9 pounds.”
That 9-pound bass anchored his 20 pound 8-ounce limit which was good enough for 39th and inside the money cut going into Day 2.
