Park Hills, Oklahoma pro Jason Christie takes the FLW Beaver Lake event with a 3-pound 5-ounce margin over Nicholasville, Kentucky pro Shawn Murphy. Christie’s limit weighing 14 pounds 1 ounce earned him $125,000 for four days of tournament fishing. Christie worked a Yumbrella rig with 3/16-ounce money jigs and a variety of dark-back 4-inch swimbaits on a 7 and ½-foot baitcasting rod with 20-pound fluorocarbon line.

Christie confident on Day 4.
“I went in to today pretty confident,” said Christie. “I found two schools of bass on the second day where I’d catch a bass on every cast for 30 minutes. That didn’t happen today. I adjusted and it worked out.
“I was born and raised in the outdoors. There is not a day that goes by I take that for granted. If you asked me before the tournament if I had the winning fish I would’ve said not. I have a groove going, although I struggled today.
“My girls gave me a good luck charm this season. There is a patch worn out on my jeans from where I was rubbing my good luck charm.”
Murphy relied on the Alabama rig this week.
“I had a good week,” said Murphy. “During practice I caught fish on a Wiggle Wart. I went to the A-Rig for a lot of the tournament. So much my back and arms are worn out. It’s a tough job to throw it all day. I’d do it tomorrow if I had to.”
Former FLW Angler of the Year Anthony Gagliardi of Prosperity, South Carolina ended up in third.
“I had my limit by 9 today,” said Gagliardi. “I had all day to try and upgrade. I caught my big one late in the day. It doesn’t matter when they come, as long as they come. I targeted smallmouth bass from Day 1. I fished mostly 5 and 6 pound Gamma line with little swimbaits, and I also used Spot Removers.”
Birmingham, Alabama pro Barry Wilson grabbed the four spot.
“I’ve been on fish all week,” said Wilson. “I’ve lost a few big fish all week. I lost a big fish today.”
Former FLW Champ Scott Suggs landed in fifth overall.
“I had a good week,” said Suggs. “I had a lucky tooth from my daughters, but it wasn’t as lucky as Jason Christie’s good luck charm.”
