Bassmaster Elite Series pro John Crews of Salem, Va., has launched a new venture called Bass Angler Academy.

It’s an intensive school “for the serious angler who is tired of getting beat,” Crews said.

“This program is something I have been asked about for a while,” he said. “This is a very unique opportunity for weekend anglers to learn in a day what takes pros years to obtain.”

Crews said Bass Angler Academy is an expansion of a classroom seminar he has been doing for a bass club for several years. Its success prompted him to offer more classroom options, as well as on-the-water instruction.

“It is not a guide trip,” Crews said. “Anglers can learn boat positioning, using a GPS, reading a sonar unit, real-world casting techniques, proper hook sets, and much more.”

Bass Angler Academy offers several levels of instruction, from a one-on-one, eight-hour session on the water, to classroom instruction for large and small groups.

Crews offers details and pricing at his Web site, www.johncrews.com.

Besides expanding his instructional offerings, Crews recently signed two new sponsorship deals. One is with sunglass maker Solar Bat. The other is with Power Pole, which makes a boat-positioning and anchoring system for shallow-water applications.
