Ehrler Widens Lead at FLW Tour Lewis Smith Lake

Keystone Light pro Brent Ehrler retained his frontrunner position after Day 2 of the Lewis Smith Lake FLW. Ehrler weighed a limit weighing 16 pounds and 7 ounces giving him a 6-pound 1-ounce lead over Koby Kreiger heading into the third day of competition.

“It was brutal today, really tough,” said Ehrler. “I know I had a good weight today, but it wasn’t easy. The weather was warmer, but the fishing pressure made the bite a lot tougher.
“There are a lot of guys fishing a relatively smaller area. The places that are good to fish are obvious. An angler leaves and you have a lot of guys fishing on it after they leave.
“I am fishing areas that I generally have to myself, but I am fishing them really hard. I’m providing my own pressure. If I can catch 12 pounds tomorrow, I feel I will be able to move on. The problem for me is that if I don’t catch them, well, anybody would move up and take the tournament.”
Lack of expansion troubling for Ehrler.
“I have a great opportunity to win this event,” said Ehrler. “However, I am nervous about this tournament. The tide can turn easily here. I have not been able to expand what I am doing to catch fish. I usually do well when I can expand what I am doing. I don’t like it when I cannot expand.
“There may be enough in the areas I am fishing to win, but I am not sure at all. I will organize my tackle, eat something and get some sleep. Hopefully I can get enough fish to hold on.”
