After two days of competition on Lake Shelbyville, Edwin and Ott look to be dialing in on Championship Sunday and a rematch between one of the sports most consistent veterans vs. one of the sports budding stars.
The 12 All-Stars goal was to finish in the top four after Friday where they would be seeded 1 vs. 4 and 2 vs. 3 and the winners from each bracket would battle it out on Sunday.
Evers was the only one to bring two limits to the scales on both days, giving him a two-day weight of 23 pounds, 1 once. DeFoe holds the #2 seed with his 22 pounds 15 ounces.
Evers will square off against the #4 seed, Gerald Swindle while Ott DeFoe will face the #3 seed Aaron Martens.
The winners of those two matches will advance to the finals on Sunday where the champion will earn a $60,000 payday. With Evers and DeFoe in different brackets, the stage is set for the rematch from 2011.
“I caught four of the 10 bass I weighed on an XCalibur Xr50 One Knocker lipless crankbait (chrome with a blue back),” Evers said. “I was targeting isolated stumps in the middle of flat, shallow pockets – 1 1/2 to 4 feet deep. The bass were suspended and eating shad, and they wanted the bait moving fast.”
The four remaining All-Stars will leave the docks at Nelson Park on Lake Decatur tomorrow morning at 8 am.
