Beaver Lake out of Rogers, Arkansas is known as a tough lake to fish come tournament time. On Day 1 of the FLW event this year, it wasn’t. Usually a 10-pound bag will keep you in the money. This year the lightest 10-pound weight, Luke Clausen’s 10 pounds 1 ounce, is only good enough for 74th place after the first day.
West Monroe, Louisiana pro Jim Dillard took a unique approach to prepare for Day 1 of the FLW event. His new approach has him in 28th with 13 pounds.
“I figured Beaver Lake out,” said Dillard. “Last night I threw batting practice for my sponsors kids. It worked. My shoulder is killing me now. After throwing an Alabama Rig all day. I need to ice it.”
Larry Nixon seemed a bit confused about his results today.
“I don’t know how I did it,” said Nixon. “I had a good day on Beaver for me, that’s for sure.”
