Mercury pro Greg Hackney improved throughout the day.

“I didn’t have the best practice,” said Hackney. “I caught them all day today, though. They started little and progressed throughout the day. I didn’t lay off them at all. I’ll hit new stuff tomorrow.

“It is pretty cool to be fishing here at this event. Fishing against Roland Martin, one of my heroes from the time I was a little kid. Fishing the Okeechobee. Growing up, I’d always see this place on TV with all of the grass. It’s very cool.”

Hackney weighed 21 pounds 15 ounces and sits in fourth.
