Ma Nature sure likes to screw around with the FLW Tour anglers fishing Pickwick Lake this week.

After the torrential downpour during the Day 1 weigh-in, Day 2 brought a nice taste of another downpour and thunderstorm during the competition, and again interrupting the weigh-in. Regardless, the Tour pros prevailed and bagged some impressive catches. Taking charge after Day 2 heading into Saturday is Phoenix Boats pro Greg Hackney. Hackney weighed 31 pounds, 6 ounces today giving him a two-day total of (53-10). Hackney showed up early for weigh-in to avoid the impending thunder-banger.

Sitting just over 6 pounds behind Hackney in second is Yamaha pro Michael Neal with (47-9). Rounding out the Top 5 are in third Lucky Craft pro Brent Ehrler (45-13). In fourth is Mercury pro Jason Quinn (43-1). Troy Hollowell is in fifth with (42-10).

Hackney can’t explain
“I don’t know how to explain my success today,” said Hackney. “It was AWESOME. I caught my fish off the same area I caught them on Day 1. It took longer to get my bites today. The fish just happened to be bigger.

“The fishing was unbelievable. I mean, you have days like this sometimes, but not usually when you are fishing a tournament. You never have a day like this when you need it. What a day.”

Neal on the ledges
“I’m catching all of my fish on ledges,” said Neal. “That is no surprise. I’m throwing swimbaits and jigs. I fished the same spots on both days.”

Current right for Ehrler
“I’m having fun out there,” said Ehrler. “You hear about how current being pulled on Pickwick turns the fish on. It did today. The bigger fish were really biting. This type of fishing is really fun. I sure benefited from the current. It made a big difference for me.”
