Evinrude pro Brett Hite is taking his momentum from an FLW Tour win and Top 10 finish earlier this season into the Bassmaster Elite Series event on Lake Seminole out of Bainbridge, GA. Heading onto the stage this afternoon with the theme music from the A-Team television show playing in the background, Hite weighed a limit weighing 20 pounds 11 ounces giving him a total of 45 pounds 6 ounces heading into Saturday. Less than one pound behind Hite in second is Shimano pro Bernie Schultz with a two-day total of 44 pounds 8 ounces.
Rounding out the Top 5 are BassCat pro Kevin Short with a weight of 43 pounds 3 ounces in third. Abu Garcia pro Justin Lucas weighed 43 pounds 1 ounce, enough for fourth heading into Saturday. In fifth is Plano pro Chad Morgenthaler weighing in 43 pounds.
Big Mo for Hite.
“When you have the momentum working for you, things go right,” said Hite. “I’ve been fishing really well this year. When momentum is on your side, you make a lot of right decisions. I’ve decided to follow my gut, it’s been working out for me.
“Plus, if I keep leading this event, I think I’ll keep the A-Team theme song when I come out on stage.”
Schultz pleased.
“There are more bass out there and fewer anglers fishing them tomorrow,” said Schultz. “That is a good thing for me. I am pleased with how this tournament is going so far. I just need to be able to run Brett Hite down and make it to Sunday. I think I can do it. Fishing is going the right way for me.”
Pink is mad.
“I’ll tell you what, that scale lies as far as how hard my day was,” said Pink. “When I got to my spot this morning I caught a small keeper on my first cast. I’m not saying that was bad luck, but it wasn’t good luck.
“I didn’t catch my good fish until after 3:00 this afternoon. I’m pissed off at the fish. I’m gonna go after them tomorrow.”
