Mike Iaconelli considers himself lucky after the wrath of Hurricane Sandy struck many of his neighbors in New Jersey, but essentially spared his home.

“It is freakish,” said Iaconelli. “That storm was horrible. It’s starting to get back to normal around here. I think about 80 or 90 percent of the people around here have the right insurance, but you just can’t replace everything. The time and agony people dealt with and are dealing with. I am lucky. Our damage was not too bad.

“We always thought of Jersey as the safest place. Then we had that earthquake last year, Hurricane Iris and then Hurricane Sandy. We’re lucky to be safe.”
