Hawgtech, a Palm Beach, Fla. company that manufactures and markets premium fishing reel accessories has named Prattville, Ala. Bassmaster Elite Series pro Russ Lane to endorse their product line.

Hawgtech is primarily known for their high end, aftermarket Hawg Handle reel handles made of carbon fiber material with some models being equipped with premium cork knobs. Along with their Hawg Handles, Hawgtech also markets ceramic bearings to upgrade reel performance, their cork Hawg Knobs, as well as other premium reel accessories.

Mike Slipy, Co-owner of Hawgtech said that Lane became the obvious choice for them to expand their market visibility because of his use of the product and an analytical approach to his own fishing and equipment. “We’ve been getting to know Russ for about a year now, and his methodologies have a strong hint of engineering,” said Slipy. “Being an engineer myself, that impressed me, and I knew he was going to be a good fit for us.”

However, it wasn’t just his knowledge that the company was drawn to, they also enjoyed him as a person, and an angler. “Russ is a great guy, and has proved himself to be a tremendous angler,” Slipy continued. “He is going to be a great spokesperson for us, and we are excited to have him representing us.”

Lane spoke high volumes of praise about the product. “The Hawgtech reel handles have made a huge difference in my fishing,” said Lane. “They help in lightening and balancing my rods and reels which helps me fish harder all day long. The different sizes also help me tailor my equipment to different techniques, which makes me more effective as an angler.”

The five-time Bassmaster Classic qualifier also echoed Slipy’s thoughts on his relationship with the principals of the company. “Mike and Robert (Perez, Co-owner of Hawgtech) are guys that I have truly grown to appreciate as I’ve gotten to know them over the past year,” he said. “They are great guys, with minds that come up with ways to improve fishing for everyone, and I’m proud to endorse and use their products.”

While Lane will be the public face of the company, he will also be instrumental in working with the company on new products going forward.
