After the Top 50 pros walked across the stage to weigh their fish on Day 3 of the Bassmaster Elite Series event on Bull Shoals Lake in Bull Shoals, Arkansas, Casey Scanlon of Lenexa, Kansas was on top heading into the final day. Scanlon’s limit weighing 13 pounds 12 ounces gave him a three-day total of 43 pounds 14 ounces, a mere 12-ounce lead over Terry Scroggins of Palatka, Florida.

Scanlon’s fish downsized.
“I didn’t lean on my fish on the first two days,” said Scanlon. “Today I went and tried more places, but it didn’t pan out. They didn’t bite real good today. A lot of the keepers shrunk a bit. Hopefully I find bigger fish tomorrow.”
Scroggins deep fish moving.
“It is getting tougher day by day,” said Scroggins. I’ve been fishing deep to catch them. With it starting to warm up I think the fish are starting to move toward the banks. I’ll have to adapt tomorrow.”
Cliff Prince from Palatka, Florida holds the third position.
“I caught a pile of fish today,” said Prince. “I ran new water today and caught my two bigger fish. I think I have something going heading into tomorrow.”
Reigning Classic champ, Cliff Pace from Petal, Mississippi, is sitting in fourth.
“I might do things different tomorrow,” said Prince. “I’ve been fishing deep. I sure struggled today. I caught my last keeper with a few minutes left. I think the fish are moving toward the bank.”
Kalamazoo, Michigan pro, Jonathon VanDam, grabbed the fifth spot after Day 3.
“I really struggled today,” said VanDam. I didn’t have many bites at all. I leaned on my fish very hard today.”
Fred Roumbanis from Bixby, Oklahoma is in sixth.
“The wind was blowing from a totally different direction today,” said Roumbanis. “That eliminated pretty much everything I fished the first two days. I had to move around a lot. In the first hour of fishing today, I pulled my trolling motor up 20 times.”
Britt Myers of Mount Holly, North Carolina, made it to seventh after the third day.
“I fished points and pockets. Really a pattern fishing lake. They quit biting for me. I had to move around to catch a limit.”
In eighth is Brian Snowden of Reeds Springs, Missouri.
“This has been fun,” said Snowden. “I get to fish a bunch of different things. Fishing has been better later in the day. I think that is due to the cold nights. Fish want to spawn. As the water warms throughout the day they are getting more active and they move shallower.”
Casey Ashley of Donalds, South Carolina, Greg Hackney of Gonzales, Louisiana, Jason Christie of Park Hills, Oklahoma and Chris Zaldain of San Jose, California round out the Top 12.
