The mystery lake Elite Tournament was unveiled by the Bassmasters recently with a press conference in Green Bay, WI and on their web site. The 7th Bassmaster Elite Series Tournament will be headquartered at Metro Park in Green Bay and the 99 Pro’s will be fishing the bass rich waters of the bay of Green Bay – boundaries to be determined. This is the first Elite Tournament on Green Bay waters.
The 4 day Tournament will start on Thursday, June 28 and run thru Sunday, July 1. All anglers fish the 1st two days, the top 50 on day three and the top 12 day four. Five qualifying bass can be weighed each day and the weights carry forward. The heaviest bag after 4 days wins the event. This is a catch and release Tournament!
The Pro’s not only want to win each event to earn a big payout of $100,000, they can qualify for the 2013 Bassmaster Classic in Tulsa, OK and the Bassmaster All-Star event in Decatur, IL later this year. The anglers are also awarded points based on their standings; these are accumulated towards the coveted Angler of the Year Award!
Travis Manson, originally from Winneconne and now lives in Green Bay, & the first Elite Pro from WI, is familiar with these waters and is hoping for a great showing. “Even though we can’t pre-fish Green Bay until 3 days before the Tournament, I’m confident I can put together a great program with great weights. It’s nice to be on home waters where I can represent my WI Title Sponsors, Oshkosh’s The Reel Shot – Home of the J. J. Keller Fishing Team.”
