Berkley pro Adrian Avena is a Bassmaster Elite Series pro with plenty to prove during the 2018 season. He barely missed qualifying for the Bassmaster Classic last year and has the hunger and drive to push toward the top of the leaderboard.

However, does Avena have what it takes to survive the most grueling interrogation in all of professional sports? That interrogation being Three Questions from BassFIRST, of course. Read on and see if he made it through the gauntlet.

DL – Do you prefer soccer or football?

AA – I prefer football. It’s more of an impact sport. I grew up playing soccer all the way up until college.

I wanted to play football. I could throw the ball really well, but I was a late bloomer size wise, so I never did play organized football.

DL – Do you prefer fishing for smallmouth or largemouth bass?

AA – I prefer smallmouth. I grew up fishing in the saltwater, and doing a lot of offshore fishing. You have to do that more with smallmouth than largemouth.

I like using my electronics, getting behind the wheel and going, and fishing vertically. It’s what I prefer.

DL – What is your favorite food/meal?

AA – For me it’s either tuna or sushi. Nothing beats freshly caught tuna on the grill.

Sushi is my other favorite. I like sashimi, the rice, hand rolls. I am not a salmon fan, but tuna is my favorite for sushi.

Locally, we have a spicy tuna and avocado salad that I love and a roll at a local sushi place called the New Jersey Roll. Sushi and some beer. I love it. I’d eat sushi everyday if I could afford it.
