SAN ANTONIO, TX (June 3, 2022) – The 2022 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops awarded over $30,000 in prizes and contingencies to an elite field of collegiate anglers. One of the many tournament contingencies awarded following weigh-in was the Garmin Tournament Rewards. Clent Blackwood of the National Champion duo from Wallace State earned an additional $500 as the highest-finishing Garmin user in the Association of Collegiate Anglers’ year-end Championship.
Fishing with fellow teammate Bryar Chambers, Blackwood weighed in a two-day total of 46.91 pounds of Pickwick Lake bass to win the 2022 BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship presented by Bass Pro Shops by a margin of over two pounds. Chambers and Blackwood put their Garmin electronics to good use out on the famed Tennessee River ledges of Pickwick Lake. The event was dominated by main river ledges and specific spots that were located using electronics. Upon locating the magic spot during official practice, the team from Wallace State fished that area hard for two days to sack up the winning fish.
The $500 Garmin Tournament Rewards helps to bolster a total payout of over $6,500 that Bryar and Chambers earned by winning college fishing’s longest-running, no entry-fee National Championship event.
Garmin Tournament Rewards is a contingency program that rewards anglers for using Garmin electronics. To be eligible for the $500 cash prize, an angler must be the highest placing Garmin user at a qualifying Garmin-sanctioned event.
