ATHENS — Water level is about eight inches high and fairly clear. Water temp in the high 40s, low 50s.
Fishing guide Jim Brack says bass fishing has been slow; a few fish to nine pounds around deep brush piles. Crappie are fair around brush piles using small shiners in 25-30 feet.
CEDAR CREEK — Water level is about four inches high and stained. Water temp in the low 50s.
Fishing guide Jason Barber says catfish are good with some solid blue cat reported on punch bait, cut shad and night crawlers soaked around shallow stump fields and windy banks up north. Drift fishing over big, open water down south also producing some quality blues.
White bass and hybrids are still good on shad pattern plastics dead sticked over open water on the main lake. Crappie are fair to good at upper reaches of select creeks, around bridges, brush piles and deeper marina stalls using shiners and jigs. Black bass are taking spinnerbaits, shaky heads, jigs and Texas rig plastics fished around deeper docks with brush and on Carolina rigs and cranks fished around drop offs in 16-20 feet.
