Warming weather this late December and early January has caused weakening of the ice across the upper midwest, even in the far north.Numerous vehicles have gone through the ice lately, due to ice thinning under current areas and in slushy areas where water is draining through an existing hole, causing a weak spot.Be very cautious if you plan on driving out on the ice for the next few days until the weather calls for a few nights below 20 degrees!Weather forecasts call for temperatures in the teens and single digits in the North this week, which should restore the ice to safe depths soon. Check with local bait shops and anglers before driving on the ice for the next few days!
