The Natural Resources Management Act, officially known as S.47, would improve fishing access and enhance conservation efforts all over the country.
Benefits to anglers include:
– Permanent reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, which supports recreational access projects in every state;
– Congressional declaration of national policy that federal agencies will work to expand and enhance hunting and fishing opportunities;
– Increased access and opportunities to fish on federal lands; and
– A provision that would withdraw more than 30,000 acres near Yellowstone from mining operations, which will help prevent potential degradation of the Yellowstone River’s water quality and world-famous fishery.
The package contains a permanent reauthorization of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, a section enhancing and increasing public land access for hunters and fishers, language improving outdoor recreation access and more than 100 smaller bills related to land conveyances, exchanges and conservation projects.
This is a bill that’s good for fish and wildlife all over the USA.
