by Jace Luoma
The fifth annual Holes for Poles event is set for Saturday February 20th. Community members are invited to Holes for Poles, a fish fry and raffle fundraiser that supports scholarships for students enrolled at the Baudette site for Minnesota State Community and Technical College’s Electrical Line Worker Technology Program. The fish fry is set for 4:30-7:30 p.m. Saturday, February 20, at the American Legion in Baudette with the raffle immediately following. Cost is $10 per walleye dinner.
Raffle tickets are $10, and only 1000 tickets are available either at the event or from Outdoors Again, the Baudette Electrical Line Worker Site, North Star Electric or WACF. Prizes include a Clam outdoor fish house, Jiffy Pro 4 propane 10-inch auger, four Minnesota Twins tickets with legends club seating, a South Dakota pheasant hunt, a Gary Hull handcrafted fish decoy, and a smoker. The top prize is an open water fishing package from Cyrus Resort. (a $1,675 value)
The Baudette training site accepts 25 students each year and was created in 2010 in response to an industry need for more electrical line workers.
