Electric augers have improved ice fishing experience

It was ice fishing expert Dave Genz that first got me thinking about electric augers. Somehow, I had a difficult time envisioning an electric auger cutting the dozens of holes I typically need for a day on the ice. However, I know Genz well and if he said I should give it a try, I took him at his word.
I will admit it was at least a year before I made the purchase. My gas augers had been so trustworthy and such workhorses, I just couldn’t find the incentive to explore a new option.
My first test of the electric auger happened on Clearwater Lake. Charlie Simkins and I were doing some late ice angling on some weed flats. The panfish were scattered and the need for creating lots of holes.
