Make plans to attend the 2015 Wisconsin Musky Expo, March 6th, 7th and 8th at the Central Wisconsin Convention & Expo Center in Wausau.
The Convention Center was formerly known as the Patriot Center in Rothschild, a suburb just south of Wausau, off of exit 185, on Hwy 51S.
Show hours are Friday, March 6th, 2:00 pm. to 9:00 pm., Saturday, March 7th, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm., and Sunday, March 8th from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Friday, the first 200 people with a paid admission will receive a free musky bait. Sunday, the first 100 kids 12 years and under, accompanied by a paying adult, will receive a rod and reel, (one child per adult). This was made possible by Chevy Trucks.
Everyone who comes to the show can register for a chance to win a full week’s stay at Donner’s Bay Resort on the Turtle Flambeau Flowage. Stop by their booth and register.
As usual, there will be drawings for free door prizes. Everyone will get a ticket with their paid admission. Drawings will take place every half hour each day of the show.
The show has a full lineup of speakers throughout the weekend. Musky guide and media personality, Lee Tauchen, will open the show on Friday afternoon. Musky legend and Hall of Fame guide Tony Rizzo will be up next at 5:00 pm., and a panel consisting of Eric Larson, Kevin Pischke and Kevin Stahl, discussing Green Bay Muskies will round out Friday night.
Saturday’s speakers will include Jeff Van Remortel, Paul Meshak from Lowrance Electronics, Southern WI Musky guide Chris Taurisano, Northern WI trophy musky guide Doug Smith and Spencer Berman.
Saturday, at 12:15, Levi Walker and Adam Johnson of Winchester Boat Co. will be giving a special presentation for those who would like to learn more about row trolling.
Sunday’s speakers will include a panel discussing Price County muskies. The panel will consist of John Carlson, John Kleczewski, and Rich Belanger from St. Croix Rods.
Other speakers Sunday will include Central WI musky guide Brad Wirt, John Dettloff and Castle Rock musky guide Mark Saemisch.
Other highlights to look for: bring a picture in of your largest musky and register for a chance to win a free replica from Lax Reproductions. Have custom leaders made to your specks by TFH Leaders. Stop by the Bull Falls booth and sample your favorite brew.
There will be a wide variety of “musky stuff” filling the convention center, everything from musky shaped cookie cutters to hard to find musky baits, as well as the hottest baits from the bigger companies.
Retailers such as Ross’s Sport Shop, Tadpoles in Eagle River and Blue Ribbon Bait and Tackle will have the latest in rods, reels, landing nets and every-day baits that need to be stocked up on for the upcoming season.
Kurt’s Island Sport Shop fill have a full line of his custom painted baits in his booth and GT Rod and Reel will have hard to find baits from the south.
Come for the day and stay for the weekend, there’s plenty to do and plenty of people to talk muskies with at the Wisconsin Musky Expo in Wausau.
