If you haven’t already now is the time to start your trip planning! High exchange rates favoring the USD, low fuel prices, economy and market optimism, no pricing increases, special seasonal discounts, outstanding fishing and service make 2017 the perfect time to consider your next fishing or hunting vacation. There are 22 weeks in the fishing season. Last season 16 of those weeks were completely full with the remaining weeks nearing it. Bookings upon departure were at all-time high last season and early bookings are coming in quicker than even in past years. The new cabin #7 “honeymoon” cabin for 2016 was raved by all who used it and along with the new #1 are quickly filling for the upcoming season. Even more accommodation, lodge, and equipment renovations and replacements are planned for this coming season. Hint: you’ll be surprised when you arrive! Our goal is to improve and provide a better level of accommodations, services, experience and value for your dollar.
 

 The new for 2016 20′ KINGFISHER 2075 guide boats where a big hit amongst guests and allowed the AML guides to fish to the best of their ability with outstanding guest comfort and safety.  With big and roomy 2100 Tuffys, 2075 Kingfishers, and Lund’s the AML Pro-Staff Guide Team are running the most fishable boats in the industry today.  The 17.5′ Lund Outfitter and 20″ Lund Alaskan guest upgrade fleet will be either new or 100% refurbished to like new with 2017 50 and 115 hp motors. For the serious anglers on unguided days not wanting to trailer their own boats or groups of 3-4 who want to fish together instead of separate boats this bigger and fully equipped 20′ option will provide more big water range, safety, and lots of room. The 2016 season brought some exciting highlights for your viewing pleasure with the return of John Gillespie’s Woods and Waters to film 3 different episodes featuring AML and Eagle Lake.  If you missed them, you can view the shows on www.vimeo.com/gillespiefishing  website or order a copy at www.gillespiefishing.com. Great action, always some laughs, and what one can typically expect when fishing Eagle Lake both summer vacation season and late fall through Andy Myers Lodge and its elite group of guides.  Stay tuned, more filming is planned with John and other TV Venues are in the works with names/dates soon to be announced for the 2017 season!

To help prepare for your trip and keep abreast of goings on Guest Fishing Instruction Program Coordinator Steve Herbeck will be doing video clips of THE AML TIP OF THE WEEK for fishing the waters of Eagle Lake and NW Ontario. These will be followed by AML’S EAGLE LAKE AREA FISHING REPORT every 2 weeks once the season opens. Whether you come to Eagle lake to chase Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout, Northern Pike, Muskie, or a bit of everything you will find one of the most dynamic and diverse fisheries in NW Ontario. Eagle Lake is and has been literally exploding in numbers and has reached a point where it considered by the MNR to be in the top 10 of all fisheries in NW Ont. and worthy of it’s World Class designation. The walleye pop. just keeps growing in both numbers with trophy’s boated 28-32″ practically daily and the smallmouth Bass fishing has reached a point where it is one of the top NW Ontario fisheries for trophy Bass with fish averaging 3-5#  with 6#+  a possibility on any given day. The Lake Trout and Pike fisheries are stable and continue to pump out trophies over 20#’s. There is now the capacity for 12-18 late fall guests in newer fully winterized cabins and the Lodge so we can go as late as we want regardless of the weather!  With the trend in recent years of much later and warmer fall seasons and limiting the numbers of guests per week for the Ultimate Guided Plan experience and potential for boating a Jumbo during the Trophy Muskie Hunt, the demand has reached more than can be accommodated without sacrifice of service and accommodating with specialized musky guides so we are going to extend the hunt thru the entire month of Oct. For the hard core angler this is YOUR TIME to catch your personal best.
