2020 SHOEDERS RV and MARINE HODAG MUSKY CHALLENGE RESULTS:
The Northwoods United Way and the Rhinelander Ice Association are pleased to announce the winners of the 2020 Shoeders RV & Marine Hodag Musky Challenge. The tournament was held on 6 lake groups in the Rhinelander area on September 26th and 27th, 2020. 99 teams competed at a chance for over $19,000 in cash prizes.
“We were happy to have this tournament in our area again this year. Not only did the 198 anglers have a good time competing for the prize money, they also contributed to our 2 local non-profit agencies”, states Nancy Sattler, Executive Director for the Northwoods United Way. “We also had a great night at Fridays rule meeting with raffle prizes, food, and the chance to look at 15 boats that our title sponsor, Shoeders RV & Marine brought over to the RIA. We had many precautions in place inside the ice arena due to COVID, and we were very pleased that attendee’s were respectful of wearing facemasks, using the sanitation stations, and social distancing.”
“It was a tougher for anglers to get fish this year. 38 musky were registered during the two day tournament” states Brett Aylesworth, Rink Manager Rhinelander Ice Association. “We are already looking forward to next years tournament, and are making plans to grow the event.” 1 st place went to Luke Schoone and Trevor Myers from Tomahawk, WI. They fished Bearskin Lake and caught a 37” fish on Saturday, and a 46” fish on Sunday. That was also the largest fish of the tournament.
2 nd place went to Zachary Harrelson and Zachary Holler from Minneapolis, MN. They fished the Moen Chain and caught a 38 ½ ” and 41 ¾” on Saturday.
3 rd place went to Josh and Joe Dummer from Holmen, WI. 37 ¾ and 41 ½ inch fishing on the Moen Chain on Saturday. “The event wouldn’t have been possible without the 100’s of hours that our volunteers gave to us. Mike
