The Muskie Anglers Circuit will suspend all operations throughout the 2010 season due to the tough economic times in the fishing industry. Industry and Non Endemic Sponsorships are at an all time low, and without the assistance of promotional partners, the MAC cannot offer the targeted 85% minimum payback and the MAC Live Coverage component, which the Corporation feels is critical to the future of the sport and the Circuit.
Limited registrations for the MAC 2010 events also contributed to the decision. The MAC on Pewaukee Lake was cancelled because of very low participation, making it impossible to commit personnel and equipment to operate the event and importantly, cover the event live, a primary goal of the organization.
Paul Hartman, Co-Director of the MAC, said yesterday he feels the Enduro concept will be accepted, especially on the big waters in Minnesota where the ‘night bite’ can be explosive, but the economy needs to improve and the venue may need to be operated in Minnesota under the MMTT’s advisory capacity, using the MAC umbrella for coverage, promotional activities, and attendance at the Muskie Shows by tournament personnel.
The Corporation will remain intact, and will be adjusting the structure of the Circuit to more closely match the current economy into the future.
