Oak Island, MN – Operation Muskie puts saying “thanks” into action by providing recent combat veterans with the fishing trip of a lifetime on Lake of the Woods. Each year this event pairs a new group of 20 of the world’s most heroic veterans with 10 of the world’s greatest fishing guides for an all-expenses-paid, fully-guided fishing trip for 3 1/2 days. Organized by muskie fishing icons Dick Pearson and Doug Johnson, the trip is run out of world-famous Walsh’s Baystore Camp on the Northwest Angle of Minnesota.
Costs for Operation Muskie 2010 are expected to be nearly $22,000. Along with direct donations from individuals and businesses, a two-part fundraising auction is currently at work to try and raise money to help cover these expenses.
The “silent” auction ended on Sunday, April 11th and collected almost $6,500 in bids, taking a giant bite out of the costs for this year’s trip. Thanks go out to all of the sponsors and bidders who made this part of the auction so successful!
Part two is a “live” auction taking place via online chat that takes place on Wednesday, April 14th at 7pm.
This “live” auction will include a wide variety of great items:
Guest star on “Waters & Woods” TV show with John Gillespie and Pete Maina
A resort stay on Lake of the Woods
Fishing trips from many top guides such as Doug Johnson and Paul Klein
Muskie gear: custom lures, Frabill Big Kahuna nets, and Op Muskie clothes
Please visit http://www.OperationMuskie.com for more information, and to take part in the auction sending 20 more deserving veterans to Lake of the Woods.
