Kim Emerson of the Eagle River Area Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Center has promised no snow or sub-freezing temps for the nearly 300 anglers headed there this coming week, June 24th & 25th, for the PROFESSIONAL MUSKY TOURNAMENT TRAIL’S fifth consecutive visit to this Northwood’s Wisconsin Musky Mecca… and the exciting Mercury Marine Summer Challenge! After the icy, wet, windy bean-balls Mother Nature has thrown these leading National Touring Pros and avid local Musky Hunters the first two times out in 2006, this would indeed be good news! But please don’t be upset if some folks take a wait-and-see attitude … we have heard it before, Kim. Historic cold fronts and an unusually tougher-than-normal spring bite through the half-way point have kept the number of qualifiers for the-by- invitation- only, Field of Fifty… RANGER WORLD MUSKY CHAMPIONSHIP … on Illinois’ Fox Chain, to ONLY 14!All indications are that the second half of the season will be one for the record books as the prolific Eagle Chain, a past PMTT event record holder, will be followed by a first-ever September visit to the increasingly infamous Big Musky waters of northern Minnesota’s Lake Vermillion … and still 36 open invitations for the Big Dance in November on the table.A couple of things many In the Know anglers will be watching for here will be whether or not Summers & Demars make yet another top 10 finish here? Will Machtan & Steckel be able to continue their incredible streak and make history by becoming the first ever to take a 1st Place finish in 3 PMTT Events? Will the amazingly productive Bull Dawgs add to the more than $45,000 and two 1st Place Titles they have already racked up here in just the past two-years alone?!! Will the Eagle Chain reclaim the record for Musky registered in a PMTT qualifier?Local or Touring Pro … who is going to take command of the 2006 Pro Musky Trail, who has what it takes to start that Charge to the Finish and claim the 2006 Top Gun Title and/or hoist the World Championship Trophy as they drive off with a new Ranger Boat / Trailer / Mercury package worth as much as $45,000?We will be bringing you daily updates from Tournament Central at the Eagle River Inn after the close of each days competition. It only takes ONE FISH to get your ticket punched and there is going to be one heckuva fight for those last 34 invitations. Won’t you join us here for our day-end coverage and root for your favorite Teams? And hey, don’t forget to check out the PMTT Fantasy Angler Game and exclusive photo coverage of the weekends festivities and Race for the World Championship on www.MuskiesFIRST.com as they add their unique touch and vast talents to the coverage of North America’s only truly national Musky Tournament Circuit … the Professional Musky Tournament Trail, as our 2006 media partners.Be safe, get ‘slimy …support the fastest growing segment of freshwater sport fishing … our mighty Masquinongy … and the PMTT!
