DOLLHOPF AND TUTAJ WIN WMT'S MONONA TOURNAMENT

There were two muskies over 34 inches registered at the WMT's Monona Lake tournament Saturday, May 10th. The first muskie of the event would be measured at 8:15am by the team of Doug Dollhopf and Gary Tutaj that scored 38 1/2 inches. The second and final muskie of the day would be captured by Cheryl Giffen and Matt Thatcher at 1:28pm and measuring in at 37 3/4 inches. Both teams were able to catch their muskies in very shallow water with one team using a small jerk bait and the other team using a bass sized spinner bait. The water temps were low, starting out at 51 degrees and warming up to 53 by the end of the tourney. The WMT's Monona Lake "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER" (TM) tournament paid down five places: 1ST – Doug Dollhopf/Gary Tutaj
2nd – Matt Thatcher/Cheryl Giffen
3rd – Karen & Dave McGaw
4th – Mike Michaels/Dale Austin
5th – Ken Kaegi/Sam Dimaggio

The next tournaments for the WMT is a "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER" ™ weekend with the Pewaukee tournament on Saturday, May 17th and the Okauchee tournament on Sunday, May 18th. The Pewaukee tournament is already guaranteed full pay-out and $10,000.00 first place prize money and the Okauchee tournament is getting close to having enough entries to pay out another $10,000.00 first place money. But…if a team should win both of the tournaments back-to-back and win the "MUSKIE DOUBLE HEADER"(tm) $20,000.00 bonus, that team would be taking home $40,000.00 for the weekend. Also, what will be at stake this coming weekend for the tournament anglers is the 50" pool that should be more than $15,000.00 for the first muskie registered over 50 inches. Both of the Pewaukee and Okauchee lakes are known to produce 50 inchers, as we had a 49 1/2 inch muskie caught last year at the WMT's Lake Okauchee tournament and a 51 3/4 " muskie was registered during the WMT's 2005 Lake Okauchee event.

As of todays dates, both of the tournaments still have some open spots but are very close to filling up. It is still possible to sign up for the events by logging on to the WMT's web site for the entry form and mailing it to the WMT. If there is still some openings the Friday before the Pewaukee tournament, you can sign up at the Machine Shed Restaurant in Pewaukee between the hours of 5:00pm and 7:30pm or at the same location on Saturday between 6:00pm and 6:30pm for the Lake Okauchee tournament.
