On Sept. 23rd, my last day of vacation right around sunset, this 7 pointer came in following behind a doe. He followed her into the food plot, she acted like she caught wind of something and started checking the perimeter she came within 10 yards of me and i knew i had to take the shot. He was about 30 to 35 yards and i had seconds to make a decision to get him now or wait before she blew. So i decided to take the shot. It was a nice lung shot. He ran about 60 yards, staggered, and fell over. I packed my things up, and then i remembered i didn't have a light, so i had to go to the nearest store and grab a light. I went back and tracked him and there he was just like i like them. I was overwhelmed with emotion because this was my first deer. I had just learned how to shoot a bow and from this picture i had a successful first kill! He had a small rack, but a big body. I was proud of him!
