While patrolling the Barbee Chain of Lakes today Officer Matt Maher encountered something odd. He had just finished a boating violation stop when a large Muskellunge surfaced and bumped into the side of his patrol boat!
The fish was struggling to stay upright in the water and had visible damage to its side from a boat propeller. The fish died from its wounds and was recovered to be turned over to Indiana Fisheries Biologists.
For those of you wondering, the trophy Muskie measured over 46 inches in length and a whopping 39 pounds!
