2019 Sturgeon Bay Open Bass Tournament Day 1 Take Off
Updates by OFM’s Jason Sloan
Nice weather throughout the week had fish catch rates and size steadily declining. Anglers report crystal clear water clarity making it tough to get close to pre-spawn smallies. Fast fishing is being utilized to cover water and contact active pods of bass followed by slowing down once fish are located. Suspending jerk baits and tubes are being utilized for each style of fishing. 135 teams will be battling it out under windy conditions today with rain, cold, and more wind forcasted for tomorrow, with hopes of churning water darkening things up and turning the bass on. Increase level of the upcoming full moon is also hoped to be a positive effect.
