The AIM Inaugural event is underway on Saginaw Bay out of Bay City, Michigan as 45 boats hit the water. The winds were up a little more than was forecast, but lessened over the morning to about 10 MPH.
Lund/Mercury Pro Mark Martin said he was truly excited to hit the water, as the bite was very good, and he had clouds for the first time since he arrived in Bay City. He shared confidence in the bite with Lund/Mercury Pro Scott Glorvigen, who was very excited to be able to catch and record every fish he catches as a result of the AIM CRR format, changing his strategy from conservative to swinging for the fence…every time!
Lindy/Ranger/Evinrude Pro Tommy Skarlis has been ON the fish, catching 50 to 70 ‘eyes a day. He reported that the bite was ‘off the hook’, with some in the 23 to 24″ range. He’s fishing a breakline, and is very confident in a limit.
YAR Craft/Mercury Pro Tom Kemos attended the test event at Winneconne, and has been increasingly ramped up since seeing that event. “I haven’t been this excited about this Sport since I started!” adding, “I left that test so excited words can’t even describe!”
The weather looks to improve during the day, as temperatures climb into the low 60’s and skies clear. Watch for some truly impressive weights on the AIM leaderboard, because the Pros are not restricted to a slot, no cull, or any other limits, and will be recording their largest 7 fish; this event will truly show who’s hot on any given day.
The weigh in will begin at 5 PM Eastern time and will be streamed live on the AIM website. This will be the first time a muti-camera array will be used to produce a show for AIM’s live audience that will be truly unique.
Watch the AIM website for updates, images, and video throughout the day today, and throughout the event.
