The recent, first annual Bay Mills Invitational Walleye Tournament™ set several records. The purse paid to the AIM Pro Anglers was the largest ever. The event also registered the largest single walleye caught in a tournament by an AIM Pro with a 30.75″ monster caught by Jim Carroll on Day One. Add to this the largest crowd (estimated at over 200 children) for the AIM/NPAA Youth Events and it was a special tournament.

But the Co-anglers at the recent event were also treated to record prizes. EVERY one of the 43 Co-anglers received tackle and/or gift certificates from Fin-Tech, Do-It Molds, and Reef Runner. In addition, drawings were held for larger prizes including five Navionics Lake Map chips total value over $1,000 and five Optima Batteries total value over $1,500.

Two lucky Co-anglers were also selected by random drawings to receive guided pheasant hunts with Oahe Wings & Walleyes in the great state of South Dakota. These anglers were Darrell Harp and Dan Hoffmann.

But the Bay Mills Resort & Casino added to this prize surplus by creating a side pool for Cabelas gift certificates. As each AIM Pro Angler was introduced at the pre-event Rules Meeting, he or she drew the name of a Co-angler. These Co-anglers were then rewarded based on the Day Three finish. AIM Pro Rich Boggs had drawn the name of Joel Tarantini, and when Rich won the event this meant that Joel also won the grand prize of a $5,000 gift certificate!

Other Co-anglers won gift certificates for $3,000, $1,000, $500 and $250 for being drawn by the 2nd place through 5th place finishers. (Note: the certificate drawing was random and none of the Co-anglers were paired with “their Pro” on Day Three of the tournament. The AIM Catch-Record-Release™ format does not track Co-angler “places” but distributes prizes uniformly, or in special random drawings.)

The AIM Pros were not neglected, either. Each Pro received an EZ-Lube System. Jim Carroll received the “Me and My Catch” Big Fish Award for his trophy walleye. And all were treated to great facilities and great support by the Bay Mills Resort & Casino and the area fans.
