August 23, 2011-Minnetonka, MN-World-class walleye fishing and thousands in cash and prizes are on tap when the Cabela’s Masters Walleye Circuit visits Minnesota’s walleye-rich Cass Lake Chain Sept. 16-18.

A full field of 200 boats would yield more than $100,000 in cash payouts. Plus, sponsor contingencies from Cabela’s, Ranger Boats, Lowrance, Berkley, Worldwide Marine Insurance, U2/The Oxygenator and the Big Fish Pot add thousands more to the total.

The Cabela’s MWC’s proven team format lets competitors choose their partner and double their fun, all while splitting expenses. Plus, the September time frame is expected to produce fast fishing for the lake’s abundant walleyes, making the event a high-stakes, big-fish shootout. For details or to register, visit: www.masterswalleyecircuit.com (and click the “Registration” tab); email: [email protected]; or call: (877) 893-7947. Keep in mind that a $100 late fee kicks in August 29 and registration closes at midnight on Sept. 11.

The public is invited to the weigh-ins, which will be held at Stony Point Resort, starting at 3:30 p.m. daily. The Cabela’s MWC and National Professional Anglers Association will present a Youth & Family Fishing Clinic immediately after the Day One weigh-in. The first 50 youths will receive rods and reels thanks to the NPAA, and tackle packages courtesy of Northland Fishing Tackle.

Walleyes are a winner in the equation as well. Since 1984, the MWC Conservation Fund has donated more than $300,000 to fisheries-enhancement projects in states where our tournaments are held. At the Cass Lake event, a $15-per-boat donation from each team’s entry fee-made via our non-profit affiliate Wildlife Forever-will benefit efforts to protect the local fishery.

This is the final stop for the Cabela’s MWC West Division this season, which also included Devils Lake in June and Lake Oahe in July. The Cabela’s MWC’s 2011 trail is comprised of nine qualifiers in three divisions. Anglers fishing at least three events (from any division) accumulate points toward a berth in the no-entry-fee, $100,000 Cabela’s MWC World Walleye Championship; teams fishing four events are in the running for overall MWC Team of the Year honors and $20,000 in cash prizes.

Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter for hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, is entering its tenth season as title sponsor of the MWC. Official sponsors include: Berkley Gulp!, Ranger Boats, Mercury Marine, MotorGuide, Lowrance, Fishouflage, Versus (Vs.) Television Network and North American Fishing Club. Associate Sponsors include: Berkley Trilene, Energizer, O2 Marine Technologies, Northland Fishing Tackle, Ryjus, Reflections, Worldwide Marine Insurance, The Walleye Federation, Sea Grant and Wildlife Forever.
