Zimmerman, MN – Classic Bass (ClassicBass.com) the host of the Champions Tour is excited to announce that they will be hosting their inaugural walleye event on Saturday, September 15th on Lake Mille Lacs. The event will feature some of the nation’s best professional walleye anglers in a tournament setting where every walleye caught over one pound will count towards the angler’s tournament score.
This event is building off the success and popularity of the Champions Tour Bass Series which is in its second season. Like the bass series, the boat officials paired with each angler will be high school fishing club anglers. For this Champions Tour Walleye event, the anglers will only be allowed to use artificial lures, NO live bait will be allowed.
“With two years of running the Champions Tour Bass Series under our belts, we felt we were ready to offer the Champions Tour opportunity to the Nation’s best walleye anglers,” commented Scott Bonnema, Owner of the Champions Tour. “We spoke in great length to several walleye anglers about this style event and the response was over whelming.”
The Champions Tour will be streaming live results, posting fish catches and fishing techniques throughout the day as competitors aim to catch as many walleye (over 1 lb) as possible. Each angler is paired with a boat official who will weigh and record every catch into the live scoring system. At no time will any walleye be placed in the boat’s livewells and brought to a weigh-in.
The Champions Tour primary objective is to provide anglers with beneficial and current fishing information, as results can be followed real time via ClassicBass.com and on social media. Competing anglers will also be providing Classic Bass with helpful fishing information on the lake they are fishing, along with the techniques and lures they are using.
