Ponca City, Okla.-Sept. 26, 2013-High stakes bass tournament action takes center stage when Wisconsin’s Chippewa Flowage hosts the Cabela’s North American Bass Circuit’s North Region World Bass Championship Oct. 11-12.

Hosted by the Hayward Lakes Visitor’s Bureau and Lake Chippewa Flowage Resort
Association, the Championship features the top 40 two-person teams from the Cabela’s NABC’s 2013 tournament trail, which included qualifiers at Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, Minnesota’s Leech and Pokegama lakes, and the mighty Mississippi River’s incredible border fishery.

Teams will battle for their share of more than $30,000 in cash, coveted Cabela’s gift cards and other prizes including the NABC Big Bass Pot, along with sponsor contingencies including Cabela’s Angler Cash, Ranger Cup and Optima True Blue.

Rich in bass-fishing talent, the Championship field is led by the 2013 Cabela’s NABC Team of the Year, Jason Corrao of Madison, Wisconsin, and Matt Stefan of Park Ridge, Illinois. Teams are allowed to bring their best five bass to the Cabela’s NABC scale each day, and under the Circuit’s catch-and-release format, the fish will be released back into the Chippewa Flowage. Held lakeside at Treeland Resorts, weigh-ins are free and open to bass fans of all ages.

Spectators will be treated to a steady stream of burly bass crossing the stage, along with tips and tales from the competitors. Plus, the Cabela’s NABC and National Professional Anglers Association will present a Youth and Family Fishing Clinic immediately following the Day One weigh-in. The first 50 youths will receive free rods and reels thanks to the NPAA.
This is the final event of the Cabela’s NABC North Region’s 2013 season. In addition, the NABC will kick off its South Region with an open tournament on Lake Lanier, Georgia, in December.

Cabela’s, the World’s Foremost Outfitter for hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, is in its third season as title sponsor of the NABC. Other sponsors include: Ranger Boats, Stratos Boats, Mercury Marine, MotorGuide, Optima Batteries, O2 Marine Technologies and Sea Grant.

Based in Ponca City, Oklahoma, the Cabela’s NABC is open to two-person teams regardless of club or sponsor affiliation. Entry fees are $500 per regular season tournament and $600 for the two-day regional championship. Payback is 80 percent at the event, with the balance to support the championship and angler of the year prizes. In addition, a small donation is included in each entry fee and matched by NABC and other conservation organizations up to 3-to-1 in support of bass conservation projects anywhere NABC does business. Plans are now under way for the 2014 season, with details on locations, registration and more expected soon.
