Future Anglers Learn to Fish in Cleveland

NPAA members Matt Davis, Dan Gies, Randy Eyre, and Travis Hartman, presented a fishing clinic on January 18th at the Cleveland Ohio Mid -American Boat Show.

The Future Angler clinic kicked off with a power point presentation by Travis on the fish of Lake Erie, invasive species, and how we can stop the spread of aquatic plants.  Prizes were awarded to kids that answered questions about the different kinds of fish.

The attendees were given 75 rod and reel combos that were donated by the NPAA and Future Angler Foundation.  Goodie bags were also given out with fish literature, posters, booklets, etc. and a rubber fish to practice casting.

Once the kids had their new rods/reels they along with about 80 parents and spectators, were shown how to use them properly.  The kids also learned to tie on hooks or jigs and set the rod up to catch fish.  At the end a group photo was taken and the volunteer educators were thanked by the kids and parents for sharing their knowledge.   Sponsors of the event were; NPAA, Future Angler Foundation, and Lund Boats.
