On Sunday, August 2nd, Certified Angler Educator Greg Karch and NPAA Member #138, hosted a fishing clinic for a cub scout pack. The event was held at Abe Rochlin Park in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The afternoon started out by Greg presenting his Fishing Basics Seminar which educated youth and families on all the skills needed to fish such as; safety, fishing combos, casting, fishing presentations, knots, fish identification, bait, parts of the fish and the AIS message of ‘Clean Drain Dry’
After the seminar, Greg worked with each of the cub scouts on their casting by using the Backyard Bass he brought. After casting the group went fishing. With the twenty to thirty mile an hour winds, it made casting very difficult, but the Cub Scouts persevered the tough conditions and caught a few fish. After fishing the group worked together to pick up all the trash in the park and around the water. What a great group of kids and parents!!
Each youth attending the seminar received a fishing related prize from a Plano tackle box, Shakespeare fishing combo, NPAA visor or NPAA Future Pro shirt.
Greg would like to thank his and Learn 2 Fish With Us sponsors which include: Dave’s Musky Club, Shakespeare, Berkley, Plano, NPAA, Mercury, Triton Boats, The Boat Doc, Off Shore Tackle Company, Northland Tackle, TTI Blakemore Fishing Group, Navionics, Maui Jim and The Reel Shot.
