On August 30th 2015, Jim Wedell, NPAA # 895, hosted a fishing seminar
at Delano Community Education for grades 2nd. through 6th.
The event was for skills and information in the morning and actual fishing on a pontoon in the afternoon.
The morning consisted of talking about safety, Clean drain and Dry, where to fish, how to fish, kinds of rod and reels, simple contour map reading, fish ID, types of clothing to wear, catch & release, types of bobbers, types of bait etc.
All kids went to the gym and practiced casting at plastic fish and then learned how to tie a fishing knot.
After lunch, everyone went out on the pontoon and caught fish. It was a warm day with kids catching and releasing at least 10 pan fish a person.
FKFK would like to thank NPAA for the Shakespeare rod and reel combos, red water bottles, DNR posters etc. The kids were very appreciative of the NPAA donations.
