Tournament Veteran Johnnie Candle Takes Step with Head to Head Pro Walleye Series
Devils Lake, ND – Twenty Seven year professional walleye tournament angler Johnnie Candle joins forces with the brand new Head to Head tournament series for 2021 and beyond.
Candle has competed successfully at many levels over his career. The North American Walleye Anglers, the Professional Walleye Trail, the Masters Walleye Circuit, and the National Walleye Tour have paid cash prizes to Johnnie. He is a 16 time national championship qualifier, two time All American, and in 2010 won the Masters Walleye Circuit World Walleye Championship. In 2021 he will add the Head 2 Head Pro Walleye Series to that list.
“The Head to Head Pro Walleye Series offers something we have never seen in professional walleye tournaments; a truly even playing field,” comments Candle. “No more Pro-Am competition, no more unlimited pre-fishing periods, no more private information gathering, just one on one, pro against pro, pure competition.”
The Head to Head format is unique. It begins with 32 anglers selected by invitation only. The entire field will fish for two days. The top eight will advance to a seeded, bracketed tournament. The next three days of competition pits the anglers head to head to advance until the last one is left standing. All five days of competition will be live streamed on several internet channels.
“I am very excited to see how I stack up against some of the best anglers on the planet when there are no outside forces in play. These events will be decided by the knowledge and the skill of only the professional anglers competing. I may do well and I may fail miserably, but at least I will know it was by my doing. Add to the competition the live coverage and this will be the most exciting tournament series the walleye game has ever seen.”
