NPAA member Greg Karch #138 held a Family Fishing Clinic at Menominee Park in Oshkosh, Wisconsin prior to the Bago Walleye Club weigh-in. Greg presented his ‘Fishing Basics’ seminar which reviewed fishing safety, open and closed spinning combos, setting the hook, casting, knots, fish identification, bait, catch and release. Greg and the families then talked about the AIS message of Clean, Drain and Dry and how the kids and families can help some the spread of Aquatic Invasive Species.
After the AIS message each youth received a fishing combo and NPAA Future Pro shirt which was donated by the NPAA and Future Angler Foundation along with Shakespeare.
Greg and NPAA member Tim Euting #789 worked with the kids on casting and knot tying after the seminar. The kids were excited as they were able to catch fish on land utilizing Backyard Bass!! Greg said ‘After a tough day of fishing it was great to talk and teach the families and youth about fishing.
