National Professional Anglers Association (NPAA) members Cody Lauer (#930) and Josh Olson (#682) hosted a kids fishing clinic at The Fishing Crew of South Dakota’s 2014 Championship held at Waubay Lake in Webster, South Dakota on August 16th. There were 37 kids along with many parents, spectators, and anglers, who participated in the clinic. Topics that were covered included: knot tying, bait presentation, bait types, and boat safety. The seminar ended with the Aquatic Invasive Species’ (AIS) message of “Clean, Drain, Dry” to help preserve fishing for future generations. During the event, kids were engaged and participating in the topics that were presented, and many had stories they shared about their favorite fishing experiences.
At the conclusion of the clinic, each kid was excited to receive a free fishing rod donated by Runnings and a t-shirt donated by the NPAA and their sponsors. Four bikes were given away by Neil Johnson and The Fishing Crew of South Dakota. The event was well attended and both kids and anglers enjoyed the presentation. Cody and Josh had a great time sharing their passion and knowledge for fishing with the kids. Both NPAA presenters agreed that they like to put on clinics like these in order to educate kids about fishing, and to give fishing gear to young eager anglers.
Cody and Josh would like to thank the sponsors for their support in helping to grow the great sport of fishing. Sponsors include: NPAA and their sponsors, Runnings, The Fishing Crew, Neil Johnson, Cholik Signs, Little Bend RV Park, ProFINatic, Lowrance, Warrior Lures, and Doctor Sonar. Through this workshop and others like it, we are ensuring the future of fishing for many more generations to come.
