During the Greater Wisconsin Outdoor & Sportsman Festival, Future Anglers where educated on the fishing basics. Certified Angler Educator Greg Karch and NPAA Member #138, hosted a fishing seminar on Saturday and Sunday of the show that introduced youth and families to the fishing basics which reviews; safety, different fishing combo’s, casting, bait, knots, parts of the fish, fish identification and more. At the end of the seminar Greg reviewed the Clean Drain Dry Initiative, which Clean means to clean all the weeds of the trailer and boat, Drain, means to drain your live-wells and pull the plug of the boat and then Dry, which means dry you boat for seven days before going to another lake.
In Greg’s fishing educational booth they had knot tying, bait and fish identification along with ‘Casting with a Pro’. Casting with a Pro educated youth on casting. Lake Shakespeare was setup which incorporated a thirty by forty blue tarp and forty Backyard Bass. You should have seen all the smiles on the youth faces as they reeled in a fish!! Many youth said that it was the first fish they ever caught.
