On Sunday, July 19th, Certified Angler Educator Greg Karch and NPAA Member #138, hosted a fishing clinic to introduce youth and families to fishing. Campers, local youth and families, attended the fishing clinic where they learned everything needed to fish. The day started out with Greg presenting his ‘Fishing Basics’ seminar which educates attendee’s on the skills needs to fish such as; safety, fishing combo’s, casting, fishing presentations, knots, bait, fish identification, catch and release, parts of a fish and the Clean Drain Dry message. After the seminar, they spent time practicing casting, and learning tips on how to be a better caster. If the youth had a good cast, they would catch a Backyard Bass. You should have seen all the smiles as the youth reeled in the Backyard Bass.
Great lake fisherman do not like the Invasive Species and dreaded Goby, but today it was what the youth would catch, and they were excited!!! Once fishing was completed, it was time for the youth to receive their door prize which included fishing combo’s, water bottles and NPAA Future Pro shirts. They were excited!!!
