Brainerd, MN-A number of NPAA members have committed to join Al Lindner at the Minnesota Fishing Challenge, presented by Mills Fleet Farm.  They will be among the 2-person teams supporting the most successful drug and alcohol treatment program in the state – Minnesota Teen Challenge.

The multi-species event is a tournament partner with NPAA.  Al hosts the Saturday, June 2 tournament on Gull Lake near Brainerd.  The goal is to have fun while raising funds for one of his favorite charities.  “My vision is to bring people together from the fishing world and churches, so all can make new friends,” Al said.

Steve Pennaz, honorary tournament director, said, “In the Challenge, people are fishing and raising money for Teen Challenge centers in Brainerd, Duluth and the Twin Cities.  Those fighting drug and alcohol addictions benefit directly.”

NPAA member Kirt Hedquist, Lakeville, Minnesota said, “My son Mack and I are fishing because we feel strongly about what this great program stands for.  We can fish and help out others.”  Many NPAA pro anglers are supporting the Challenge by donating tackle, rods and lure boxes.

Teams may fish one or all four divisions, Lindner Media bass, Nor-Son pike, Full Throttle walleye or Nor-Son panfish.  Or, teams could bring one of each to the scales and enter only the Sportech Mixed Bag division.

Al said, “I urge teams to enter early so the fund-raising reason for this great event can really make an impact in lives.”  The Teen Challenge mission is to assist teens and adults in gaining freedom from chemical addictions and other life controlling problems by addressing their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

Al also urged anglers to watch the 6-minute video to understand why he is involved or enter online at mntc.org/fishingchallenge.  Call 218-833-8777 for more information.
